二、最初的日子：第五章 第一天 – 白天休息

創世記1:3-5：「神說、要有光、就有了光。 神看光是好的、就把光暗分開了。神稱光為晝、稱暗為夜．有晚上、有早晨、這是頭一日。」

以羅欣 (Elohim) 以行動──「說話」──開始了第一天。這段話中提到的其他動詞是「看見」、「分開」和「呼召」。如果我被按立並被呼召去講道，這裡將是講道的一個很好的開端，講述神如何為我們做這些。祂看到我們，把我們分開，並呼召我們。但我要把這個問題留給那些更有經驗且「穿聖服的人」去說，我是一個寫文章的人。我們在這裡看到的是，神在他的創造中是活躍的。「分開」這個詞的意思是進行區分，將一個人與另一個人分開，移到一邊，切斷，劃分。它是把一個人從另一個人身上拿開，放在別的地方的行動。它是強有力的、積極的。「叫」這個詞很奇妙，神兩次這樣做是為了讓人知道他所做的事情的不同。⁶⁷

從字面上看，我們可以將第5a節讀作「上帝宣告光為晝；宣告暗為夜」。沒有人比我們的王、我們的神更崇高、有能力。當一個王發表聲明時，所有在座的人都會聽從，並把它作為法律來宣傳。正如祂曾說「要有光」，祂現在告訴我們它是什麼──它是 「晝」，在這個新事物的分離過程中，祂必須宣佈在它之前存在的東西。祂就稱那舊的黑暗為「夜」。不再空虛、不再混亂。上帝把兩者分開了，而且會一直這樣下去，直到時間走到盡頭。不僅在視覺上是一種規律，而且每一個分子、原子和電子都遵從祂的命令。

這就是為什麼這節經文的下一部分不可能以其他方式發生。「有晚上、有早晨、這是頭一日」。就在這裡，上帝以一種我們可以理解的方式向我們揭示了第四維⁶⁸。在創造的這一點上，我們不需要周、月或季節    因為這是第一天，我們所需要的就是這一天。因為這是一天… 這一天，就像它一樣，我們現在可以對這個實際的一天有一個合乎邏輯的、光榮的結論。以前我們無法做到，因為黑暗沒有盡頭，現在黑暗有了開始和結束。

我們需要在這裡提到，大光（太陽）還沒有被創造出來。我們看到的是一個在太陽之前的世界。還不需要任何東西來記錄一個在天空中飛行的大亮物。以羅欣 (Elohim) 神知道準確的時間，不需要一個創造物來幫助祂記錄。上帝沒有低頭看祂的腕表，也沒有標記這個場合。這個時刻被標記了，因為祂在這上面做了標記。因為從這個確切的時刻開始，白天和黑夜就存在了， 因為光本身有存在的理由。也許在這一刻之前，上帝並沒有用身體的光芒「照耀 」過。因為沒有必要發光，所以沒有東西會發光。但現在，有了可能性… 有了光的法則… 能夠發光的東西就會發光。

II: First Days──Chapter 5: Day 1 – Daylight breaks

Genesis 1:1-3 ESV “And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.”

Elohim begins day one with the action: “speak.” The other verbs mentioned in the passage are “saw” “separated” and “called.” If I were ordained and called to preach, here would be a great start to a sermon about how God does this for us. He sees us, separates us and calls us. But I will leave that to those more experienced men of “the cloth” as it were. I am a man of the pen. What we see here is that God is active in His creation. The word “separate” means to make a distinction, to dismiss one from the other, to move aside, to sever, to divide.¹ It is the action of taking one away from the other and placing it somewhere else. It is powerful and active. The word “called” is wonderful and God did it twice to make known the differences in what He had done.

Literally we could read verse 5a as “God proclaimed the light: Day, and the darkness He proclaimed: Night.” There is none higher or mightier than King God. When a king makes a declaration, all those in audience give heed and make it known as law. Just as He had said: “Let there be light” He now tells us what it is. It is “Day” and in the separation of this new thing, He must declare what was there before it. He does this by calling the old darkness: Night. No longer is there a void. No longer is there confusion. God had separated the two and it would remain this way until time comes to an end. Not only is it a law visually, but every molecule, atom, and electron obeyed His decree.

This is why the next part of the verse could not have happened any other way. “And were evening and morning, the first day.” Right there, God has revealed the fourth dimension² to us in a way that we can relate to. At this point in creation we do not need weeks, or months, or seasons… Because this is Day One, all we need is this day. And because it is a day… The day, as it were, we now can have a logical and glorious conclusion to this actual day. Whereas we could not before, as there was no end to the darkness, now there is a beginning and an end to the darkness.

We need to mention here that the great light (the sun) has not been created yet. We are seeing a world before the sun. There is no need for anything to keep record of a big bright thing flying across the sky yet. Elohim God knew the exact time and did not need a creation to help Him keep track. God didn’t glance down at his wristwatch and mark the occasion. The occasion was marked because He marked upon it. For from this exact moment, day and night existed because light itself had cause to exist. Maybe God didn’t “shine” with physical radiance before this moment. Because there was no need to shine, nothing shone.
