第三十章 上帝的寶座

「你心裡曾說、我要升到天上．我要高舉我的寶座在　神眾星以上．我要坐在聚會的山上、在北方的極處．」⁴⁰⁴ ──神的話語告訴我們，猶大的子孫將題詩歌論巴比倫王，因這寶座是一個多麼不可思議的景象──「耶和華如此說、天是我的座位、地是我的腳凳．你們要為我造何等的殿宇．那裡是我安息的地方呢。」 ⁴⁰⁵

「歌頌那自古駕行在諸天以上的主．他發出聲音、是極大的聲音。」 ⁴⁰⁶ 雖然這聲音聽起來好像有些活動在進行中，但它也意味著「被承載」或「被架在」──事實上，耶和華是架在諸天之上的。

啟示錄4:2-6告訴我們：「我立刻被聖靈感動、見有一個寶座安置在天上、又有一位坐在寶座上．看那坐著的、好像碧玉和紅寶石．又有虹圍著寶座、好像綠寶石。寶座的周圍、又有二十四個座位、其上坐著二十四位長老、身穿白衣、頭上戴著金冠冕。有閃電、聲音、雷轟、從寶座中發出。又有七盞火燈在寶座前點著、這七燈就是　神的七靈。寶座前好像一個玻璃海如同水晶．寶座中、和寶座周圍有四個活物、前後遍體都滿了眼睛。」⁴⁰⁷而啟示錄21:10-11告訴我們：「我被聖靈感動、天使就帶我到一座高大的山將那由　神那裡從天而降的聖城耶路撒冷指示我。城中有　神的榮耀．城的光輝如同極貴的寶石、好像碧玉、明如水晶．」⁴⁰⁸

上帝的寶座聽起來確實像北極光，也難怪挪亞在雨後看到第一道的彩虹，在地上再沒有什麼能阻擋上帝的榮耀了──上帝的榮耀從寶座發出， 寶座就在大地之上，閃耀如同綠寶石，又有虹圍著寶座，寶座之下是浩瀚、清澈的穹蒼。與此同時，在舊約中，當上帝駕行在可移動的寶座上，並運行在這大地時，以西結看見了並宣稱：「在他們頭以上的穹蒼之上、有寶座的形像、彷彿藍寶石．在寶座形像以上、有彷彿人的形狀。」⁴⁰⁹

這可能讓你大吃一驚──上帝有一個可移動的寶座…。好吧，撒但在約伯記的第一、第二章裡，曾兩次造訪它，這是非常有趣的事。但更重要的是，上帝特地從北面造訪了以西結：「我觀看、見狂風從北方颳來、隨著有一朵包括閃爍火的大雲、周圍有光輝、從其中的火內發出好像光耀的精金。」 ⁴¹⁰

有一個關於以色列人在曠野使用帳幕的整全研究，以及它今天如何對應著上帝的寶座，而在研究上帝寶座的位置上，最重要的收獲是：寶座在上面──天是祂的寶座，地是祂的腳凳。

啟示錄21:2-3宣告著，有一天，寶座將從今天的寶座上從天而降：「我又看見一個新天新地．因為先前的天地已經過去了．海也不再有了。我又看見聖城新耶路撒冷由　神那裡從天而降、預備好了、就如新婦妝飾整齊、等候丈夫。我聽見有大聲音從寶座出來說、看哪、　神的帳幕在人間．他要與人同住、他們要作他的子民、　神要親自與他們同在、作他們的　神．」 ⁴¹¹

能走在這全新創造的穹蒼上，定會很有趣，這穹蒼的物質不再將空氣分開，而這物質之豐富，足以讓上帝用以舖路：「城內的街道是精金、好像明透的玻璃。」⁴¹²

Chapter 30: The Throne Room of God

“You said to yourself: ‘I will ascend to the heavens; I will set up my throne above the stars of God. I will sit on the mount of the gods’ assembly, in the remotest parts of the North.’”¹ Thus the Word tells us that the children of Judah will sing about the King of Babylon. What an incredible sight must be the throne room. “Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?”²

“To Him who rides upon the highest heavens, which are from ancient times; Behold, He speaks forth with His voice, a mighty voice.”³ Although this sounds like there is some movement going on, it also means: “is carried” or “is mounted upon.” And indeed YHVH is mounted in the highest of heavens.

Revelation 4:2-6 tells us: “At once I was in the Spirit, and I saw a throne standing in heaven, with someone seated on it. The One seated there looked like jasper and carnelian, and a rainbow that gleamed like an emerald encircled the throne. Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and on these thrones sat twenty-four elders dressed in white, with golden crowns on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning, and rumblings, and peals of thunder. Before the throne burned seven torches of fire. These are the seven Spiritsa of God. And before the throne was something like a sea of glass, as clear as crystal. In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, covered with eyes in front and back.”⁴ And Revelation 21:10,11 tells us: “And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the holy city of Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God, shining with the glory of God. Its radiance was like a most precious jewel, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.”⁵

God’s throne sure sounds like the Aurora Borealis. And no wonder Noah saw the first rainbow after it had rained. There was nothing to block the glory of God anymore from the earth. The glory of God emanates from the throne, which is above the earth, and it shines like a green stone, surrounded by rainbows, and underneath it is a clear expanse. Meanwhile, back in the Old Testament, when God used to wander around on earth in His portable throne, Ezekiel saw it and declared: “And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.”⁶

That probably took you aback. God having a portable throne… Well Satan visited it twice in Job chapters 1 and 2. Very interesting. But more importantly, God visited Ezekiel from the Sides of the North specifically. “I looked and saw a whirlwind coming from the north, a great cloud with fire flashing back and forth and brilliant light all around it. In the center of the fire was a glow like amber,”⁷

There is an entire study about the tabernacle that Israel used in the wilderness and how it corresponds to the throne of God today. The most important takeaway from the study of the location of the throne of God, is that it is up. Heaven is his throne and earth is his footstool.

Revelation 21:1-3 declares that one day the throne will descend from the throne room where it is today. “I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth had disappeared, and so had the sea. Then I saw New Jerusalem, that holy city, coming down from God in heaven. It was like a bride dressed in her wedding gown and ready to meet her husband. I heard a loud voice shout from the throne: ‘God’s home is now with his people. He will live with them, and they will be his own. Yes, God will make his home among his people.’”⁸

It will be interesting to walk on that new created firmament material, the one not made for keeping the heavens separated. It’s in such abundance that God will use it to pave the roads. “The streets of the city were made of pure gold, clear as crystal.”⁹
