A: A wise Jedi master / 一位智者
絕地武士（Jedi）是《星球大戰》電影中的正派人物，尤達（Yoda）是武士團的領袖，他個子短小，卻是一位智者。電影中尤達有一句經典的對白”Size matters not, look at me. Judge me by size, do you?” 反映世人喜歡憑外表論斷人；但是真正的高手，往往是貌不驚人。
當使徒保羅鼓勵提摩太時，也叫他不要懼怕別人的輕視：「不可叫人小看你年輕，總要在言語、行為、愛心、信心、清潔上，都作信徒的榜樣。」（提前4：12）保羅不單要鞏固提摩太的信心，更送他五個造就自己的秘訣：
言語：基督徒要說誠實話、造就人的話和感謝的話 (弗4:25，29；5:4)；不說閒話、謊話、穢語，以及不合聖徒體統的淫詞妄語。 (太12:36；弗4:25，29；5:3-4) 行為：信徒的行為要與基督的福音，並蒙召的恩相稱。(腓1:27；弗4:1) 愛心：要憑愛心行事，正如基督愛我們。(弗5:2) 信心：人非有信，就不能得神的喜悅。(來11:6) 清潔：從上而來的智慧，叫門徒追求心、身、靈的清潔，多結果子。(雅3:17)這五點勸勉，不單是送給年輕的提摩太，同時也是送給每個尋求成長的信徒。
A: A Wise Jedi Master
In the Star Wars movies, a Jedi Knight is considered a character of the good side. The leader of the Jedi Council was Yoda – he was small in size but he is a Jedi Master. He once said, “Size matters not, look at me. Judge me by size, do you?”
This reflects how people tend to judge others by physical appearance. However, a true Jedi master is unprepossessing.
In the Bible, the apostle Paul encouraged Timothy by telling him not be afraid of how others see him: “Don”t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers: in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12). Paul not only wanted to strengthen Timothy”s confidence, he also gave Timothy five training tips:
1. Speech:
A disciple of Christ must speak words of truth, words that are helpful for building others up and for the thanksgiving of God. They should refrain from words of obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking. (Matthew 12:36, Ephesians 4:25, 29, 5:4)
2. Conduct:
A believer should behave in a manner consistent with the gospel of Christ and of the calling they have received from the Lord. (Philippians 1:27, Ephesians 4:1)
3. Love:
Do things in the way of love just as Christ loved us. (Ephesians 5:2)
4. Faith:
God is pleased with those who completely believe in Him. (Hebrews 11:6)
5. Purity:
From the wisdom that comes from above, disciples should pursue purity in their heart, body and soul. As such, the result would be plentiful. (James 3:17)
These 5 exhortations are not just for young Timothy, they are for all believers who earnestly seek spiritual maturity.
